Francisco Gonzales, a passenger, who had told several people he was going to kill himself, shot both the pilot and co-pilot. Gonzales, 27, a former member of the Philippine yachting team at the 1960 Olympics, had purchased life insurance policies totaling $105,000 prior to the flight.
